Why to attend this program?

The Six Sigma methodology is a systematic application focused on achieving significant financial results and increasing customer satisfaction. When properly deployed on carefully selected business projects, this methodology can substantially reduce and, in many cases, eliminate defects, process waste, and out-of-control processes, translating into dramatic business gains.

This training course will prepare participants to implement Lean Six Sigma’s principles, practices, and techniques. It teaches participants the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) methodology using case studies from various industries. Participants will learn to define improvement projects to satisfy customers and reduce variation. Green belts traditionally lead process stakeholders and may be assigned specific process-level improvement projects that generally do not require the statistical rigor a black belt demonstrates. This course is intense and challenging, yet satisfying in terms of the knowledge gained in 5 days.

Course Methodology

This course is consultant-led and classroom-based. The instruction is a blend of lectures, applications, individual exercises, and group work. Laptops will be extensively used during the course to practice Minitab. Various activities and an entire case study will be used to direct and illustrate the implementation of a project. Games and discussions will also be used to enrich course delivery.

This interactive and fully narrated course follows the Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) Body of Knowledge (BoK). Using real-world examples and over 100 activities, the course is designed to help you prepare for the ASQ CSSGB certification exam.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the principles of the Six Sigma ‘DMAIC’ performance improvement model
  • Examine in detail the various elements of building a complete project for improvement
  • Implement commonly used statistical analysis using statistical tools and software
  • Analyze types of waste and defects by applying Lean and Six Sigma

Course pre-requisites:

• Knowledge of basic/intermediate statistics: It is suggested that participants take some time to review basic statistics. Books or e-learning modules could be used to refresh participants’ knowledge before attending the course.

• Familiarity with the seven basic problem-solving tools.

• Participants should have at least five years of practical experience in business processes.

• Participants will benefit more if they come prepared with a business improvement idea that may positively impact their organization (e.g., cost savings of $10,000 to $50,000). The knowledge and skills gained in this course will be applied to transform their ideas into projects.

Participants must bring their laptops pre-installed with Minitab statistical software. Computers must have administrator privileges to allow participants to install Minitab software and access a USB.

Participants attending this course will receive 40+ quality tools templates that will be useful during their project’s deployment.

This is an approved ASQ prep course, and formal certification for Six Sigma can be obtained from ASQ by registering for the ASQ exam on www.asq.org. Completing this course is in no way a guarantee of a passing score on the ASQ CSSGB exam.
